Anyone
18 or older can play paintball at Camp Moosehead
provided that they wear appropriate safety equipment
and follow all rules. In order to ensure that
wars are won on skill rather than money, we normally
play Gettysburg style. No hopper type loaders
are permitted. You must load each round one at
a time. Yes that sucks if you spent $300 on a
fancy weapon. But for most of us that bought $40
Walmart specials, it evens the playing field a little.
For 2001 we added the "Gatling Gun" rule.
This allows one player on each team to use semi-auto
or automatic gun in defense of the flag.
For
the Great Paintball War of 2006 we will be allowing
semi-automatic weapons for all players. Those that are
using pumpers may want to invest in extra padding.
We
play the war on a half mile by half mile area of forest
land at Camp Moosehead. There are possible safety
hazards. These include but are not limited to:
over exertion, trip/fall hazards, snakes, bears, spiders,
paintball injuries and hurt feelings.
The
war is played like capture the flag. Each team
has a base where they display their flag. Your
team must capture the opposing team's flag and return
to your base. You must have both flags at your
base in order to win.
If
you are shot during battle, you go to the hospital at
Camp Moosehead and sign in. After you sit out
for 10 minutes, you can return to the war.
Points
are awarded for each kill, capturing the flag, and being
on the winning team. The person with the most
points wins our Top Soldier trophy.
We
play warmup games (like ambush), on the day before the
big war. On the day of the big war we will have
three battles. The team that wins two out of three
will be the winner.
Detailed
maps are provided of the war area.
Our
latest rage is center flag. This works well with smaller
groups and provides more head to head action. We play
along Dead Man's trail. Each group has to cross the
opposing teams line with the flag. The flag cannot leave
the trail. Therefore all the action is right along the
trail. You will have fun for sure.
